Exceptional vintage ring by Belgian goldsmith and jewellery designer Mies De Wilde.
Mies De Wilde (1932–2009) was an important Belgian goldsmith and one of the innovators of Belgian jewellery art from the 1950s onwards. His work was shown at Expo 58, among other events, and several of his pieces of jewellery are now in the collection of DIVA in Antwerp.
The ring has a wide, open band in sterling silver. On top of the ring is a raised, organic square element with recessed turquoise-blue enamel. The bright blue creates a strong contrast with the smooth silver and makes the simple design instantly recognisable.
The band measures approximately one centimetre wide at the top and gradually narrows towards the opening at the bottom. Thanks to this open construction, the wide ring is surprisingly comfortable and the size can be slightly adjusted.
The ring is currently approximately size 52. The opening at the bottom is part of the design and does not need to be completely closed when worn. Strong or repeated bending is not recommended, especially to avoid unnecessary stress on the silver and the enameled element.
On the inside are the initials of Mies De Wilde. On the outside are the Belgian hallmark A925 and his tonneau-shaped maker's mark.
The ring is in good vintage condition and has been worn. The silver shows fine scratches and normal signs of wear. The hallmarks are partially worn away from wear, but are still recognisable. The turquoise-blue enamel is intact and beautifully preserved.

After delivery, the ring will not be resized in the workshop. If necessary, you can have it resized locally at a jeweler of your choice.

Most gold rings can be resized. Each ring is inspected before being made.
