My Story

How it started

Ever since I was a little girl , my alarm clock went off on weekends long before the sun rose.

Together with my dad we scoured one flea market after another.

I bought just about everything that was special or different, but jewellery was my favourite .

The mornings were filled with excitement and anticipation for the search what the day would bring... and without fail, fries with Belgian tartare sauce at noon.
Some days we went from one surprise to another, but just as often, there were only disappointments.

Yet it was the hunt and the mornings full of anticipation that I looked forward to every week!

Strangely enough, I first choose to explore the world . My adventure took me abroad for a few years, living in Thailand and Poland.

In 2013 I returned to Belgium and started the four-year goldsmith training in Antwerp!

The Idea

Starting Feniks wasn’t a straight path, but in 2023 I took the plunge—and I haven’t regretted it for a second!

My focus is on vintage jewellery, and I’m working on a concept to refine my goldsmithing skills and weave them into Feniks.

Everything you see on the website is personally selected, polished, polished or restored by me.

Who am I

Like everyone else, life has brought me ups and downs.

The most important and biggest up is without a doubt my family. Together with Tomas and two lovely children, Ward and Lore we live in tranquil Essen.

Although running a business with 2 young children has additional challenges, it also gives me more flexibility during unforeseen circumstances, allowing me to spend more time with my family!

I have not been spared the downs either. In 2009, I was seriously injured in a traffic accident in Laos , the consequences of which I still suffer.

These consequences, combined with a chronic illness, mean that I have to pay close attention to my body's signals and overall well-being.

Luckily, I learnt to manage this and have it under control!

Feniks

The name Feniks was chosen because of its symbolism and recognisability .
In many cultures there is a mythical "firebird" that
always symbolizes renewal.

The jewellery at Feniks follows a similar path.

The vintage and antique jewellery has been saved from the smelting furnace and is given a second life.

The jewellery that can no longer be saved is used as parts or melted down to form a "new " piece of jewellery.
