This vintage necklace by Lapponia dates from 2002 and has the distinctive, understated finish often seen in the chain necklaces of the Finnish jewellery house.
The necklace consists of elongated, flat bar links with a fine matte texture. Each link is connected to the next by a small round eyelet. This keeps the necklace supple and allows it to drape beautifully around the neck.
Thanks to its simple lines, the necklace can be worn without a pendant, but it also makes a beautiful base for a Lapponia silver pendant or another modernist design. The hook clasp closes securely and complements the rest of the necklace with its understated form.
It is not known whether this necklace originally came with a specific pendant. As this type of link was used in various Lapponia designs, it cannot be definitively attributed to a particular designer or model.
The necklace is made of sterling silver and hallmarked with 925, the Finnish national control mark featuring a crown in the centre, Lapponia's three-pronged maker's mark, 925 again, and the A9 date stamp for 2002.
The necklace is in very good vintage condition. The matte texture is beautifully preserved, and both the connecting eyelets and the hook clasp function as they should.
