The slightly convex silver pendant features rich reliefs of scrolls, foliage, and shell-like forms. Centrally, there is an oval, hand-painted medallion with colorful flowers, framed by a black border and a delicate beaded decor.
The pendant presumably dates from around 1910–1930. Its historicizing design harks back to Biedermeier and Rococo styles but was likely produced during a later revival.
The pendant is hallmarked with 835 H, where H is an unidentified maker's mark. Additionally, it bears the Dutch re-assay mark ZII, indicating that it was re-assayed in the Netherlands after 1953 as silver of at least 835/1000 purity.
The pendant comes with a fine, cut link chain in 925 silver. It is 1.5 millimeters wide and 53 centimeters long.
The hand-painted centerpiece is attached to the back with a rivet. This allows it to rotate slightly, which is part of its construction and not a defect. The medallion is not intended to be deliberately spun, as this could loosen the connection over time.
