A beautiful example of the simple yet exceptionally well-thought-out designs of Finnish designer Elis Kauppi for Kupittaan Kulta.
The rigid, closed bracelet consists of a smooth silver band with an asymmetrically constructed top. A narrower curved strip runs along the band and through a rectangular silver element. These parts are permanently attached to each other and together form a distinctive construction. The bracelet cannot be opened and is slipped over the hand.
On the other side is an oval cabochon-cut amethyst with a deep purple colour.
This model has already been documented in examples from the late 1950s and perfectly demonstrates Kauppi's particular strength: creating a distinctive and surprising piece of jewellery with very few elements.
The bracelet is in excellent vintage condition, almost like new. There are little to no visible signs of wear, and both the silver and the amethyst have been exceptionally well preserved.
