This modernist ring is all about the combination of form and material. The polished silver band rises on one side and curves asymmetrically around a smooth, round shape of dark wood. It almost looks as if the silver was folded around the wood.
In the middle of the wood is a small silver setting with a brilliant-cut diamond of approximately 1.8 mm. A subtle point of light that breaks up the design just enough.
The dark color and fine structure are reminiscent of ebony, but the type of wood could not be determined with certainty.
The ring bears a hallmark 925 for sterling silver and a stylized maker's mark with two mirrored round shapes. The maker could not be reliably identified from this mark.
The ring is in good vintage condition. Scratches, small dents and other signs of wear are visible on the polished silver. The wooden element has been beautifully preserved. Hardened adhesive is visible on the underside of the wood. It cannot be determined whether this belongs to the original assembly or is the result of a later reattachment.
