This vintage modernist ring from 1973 is a design by Finnish jewelry designer Matti J. Hyvärinen for Sirokoru. The wide, organically shaped top has a fine matte texture and is interrupted in the middle by an elongated, recessed channel.
In this channel sits a green sphere with a diameter of approximately 7.2 millimeters. The sphere is firmly held in the silver construction but can move freely from one end to the other. This allows the ring to change slightly while being worn, a small kinetic detail.
The material of the green sphere could not be definitively determined. It might be chalcedony. Hyvärinen also used a similar movable element in his well-known 'Under the Arm' ring. However, the design of this piece is clearly different, and the precise model name was not found.
The top of the ring measures 2.4 × 2.2 centimeters. The open ring band is adjustable and can be adjusted to the desired ring size within reasonable limits.
The ring is in very good vintage condition. The matte finish of the top is almost completely preserved and shows hardly any wear. Light scratches and normal signs of use are visible on the ring band. The green sphere is firmly secured and moves as intended.
