Het Kupittaan Kulta Oy van Elis Kauppi

The Kupittaan Kulta Oy by Elis Kauppi

Establishment

Kupittaan Kulta Oy was founded in 1945 by Elis Kauppi, Jorma Nurmi and Pekka Kivipuro.

Elis Kauppi is widely recognized as the company's artistic director and chief designer .
I have not found any further detailed public information about Nurmi and Kivipuro's specific roles within the company.
Since they were both mentioned as goldsmiths, it is likely that they were involved in the craftsmanship and production processes of the jewelry.

Vision & Style

Kupittaan Kulta is known as one of the most important representatives of modern Finnish jewelry design in the 20th century.
The brand combined craftsmanship with innovative design and natural materials.

Kupittaan Kulta was known for his innovative designs that often used local materials such as spectrolite and granite.

The modernist designs of Elis Kauppi have a sleek design that excels in their simplicity and strength!

This approach gave the jewellery a unique look and helped put Finland on the map in the international design world.

Not all of Kupittaan Kulta's jewelry is by Kauppi, but his style is the guiding principle.

International breakthrough

Kupittaan Kulta 's international breakthrough took place in the 1950s and early 1960s .

In 1958 Kupittaan Kulta was part of the Finnish delegation at an exhibition in Paris “Formes Scandinaves” .
Emphasis was placed on functionality, simplicity and natural materials. Elis Kauppi's designs attracted attention with their modern, minimalist style in silver with Finnish stones.

In 1961 Modern Jewellery Exhibition in London was an exhibition dedicated to contemporary jewellery design. There the jewellery of Kupittaan Kulta was internationally praised as innovative, sleek and artistic.

Current Kupittaan Kulta Oy

Elis Kauppi retired from Kupittaan Kulta Oy in 1988 , at the age of 67.
Since then, the brand's appeal has been lost and it ceased operations altogether in 1997.
