De talenten broeihaard van Salovaara

The talent hotbed of Salovaara

Establishment

Kultaseppä Salovaara was a Finnish jewelry workshop founded in 1953 in Turku (Åbo) by Veikko Salovaara .
The company rose to prominence in the 1960s and 1970s with its modernist designs, often executed in silver and featuring gemstones such as smoky quartz, amethyst and spectrolite.
A characteristic detail is the use of the "polar bear" master mark , which can be found on many of their jewelry

Vision & Style

The jewelry is usually sleek, geometric, but never cold . Think round shapes, asymmetry and subtle textures that remind of ice or rock.

The vision was that jewelry should be both artistic and wearable and that modern shapes and traditional craftsmanship can go together perfectly.

Veikko Salovaara was not an outspoken marketing figure, but he was a forward-looking professional.
He embraced the modernism of his time and gave young designers such as Jorma Laine space to shape their creative vision within the studio.

As a result, the Salovaara house became a hotbed for innovative, idiosyncratic Scandinavian design .

Current Kultaseppä Salovaara

The studio led by Veikko Salovaara closed its doors in 1988 when he retired .

Did you know that…

Kultaseppa simply means goldsmith?
So Kultaseppä Salovaara is simply Mr. Salovaara the goldsmith .
